I hate tragedy. It brings out the worst in me. I get melancholy and morose, go inward and want to hide. And this time is no different except that the people responsible for the bombings in Boston not only attacked other human beings who were out running for their health and life, but have now put a crimp in what I do: teach people how to use a pressure cooker responsibly to make great tasting food fast. I have been teaching people for 17 years and not once has anyone inquired about using the pressure cooker to make a bomb. (thank goodness for that because I am a pacifist.)
I have already received messages and emails asking if people will still be able to purchase pressure cookers for cooking? I say, “Yes” because I hope that it’s true but I don’t know. For all I know, I could be under suspicion for recommending that people buy pressure cookers.
I also said, “I don’t think that getting or buying a pressure cooker ought to be a problem. That’s like saying cars kill people because there are accidents so people can’t buy cars.” But one never knows what will happen.
My story is, “I am all about food and cooking, not blowing things up (or even out of proportion)”. Truth is I am about much more than food and cooking, I teach people to care for themselves and others, to live a life filled with peace, caring, compassion, gratitude and positivity.
Tomorrow I will use my pressure cooker to provide a meal for a friend and colleague who lost her husband last month. That’s what I use my pressure cooker for. So, break out your pressure cooker and make something to eat. Here’s to The New Fast Food.

Bought mine last month at Indian store and they said there are two types of pressure cookers…the cheaper ones that were used in Boston and the bit more pricey ones, better steel, of course, which have the whistling gauge on the top…that is what gauges the correct pressure…and those arealways known to be for cooking…

Thank you Crissie.
I agree on the ridiculousness of banning pressure cookers. How would I make my food? I can’t see going back to stove top cooking as my only option.

I have this cookbook, and cook from it often. I don’t think pressure cookers will be banned. Heck – we don’t ban guns, and look how many people die in that way.
